Kong Bones are available in different sizes and chew strength. Today, we are going to take a look at the Kong Goodie Bone and the Kong Corestrength Chew Bone.
Because it’s good for dogs to chew, giving them specific chew toys is a good step towards preventing undesirable or destructive chewing.
Why Kong Bones
The Kong company works hard to develop toys for dogs that dogs will love. They work to create products that engage and exercise our dogs that are made from materials designed to last as long as possible.
First, let’s take a look at the Goodie Bone
The Goodie is available in three sizes and two grades for adult dogs, plus a puppy version. So there is a size to suit all dogs. The black Extreme Goodie Bone is suitable for strong chewers, and the red Classic Goodie Bone is suitable for most dogs and is the version we are concentrating on here. They are made from the same Kong natural rubber that is used for the original Kong. The rubber is strong and flexible; the central piece is more flexible than the ends, and the raised pattern of the name add texture to help clean the dog’s teeth.
The Goodie Bone has holes in each knuckle end to add kibble, treats, Kong Easy Treat or a combination to enhance your dog’s enjoyment. These are especially useful for redirecting the natural instinct to chew or for dogs who are reluctant to chew to enjoy the physical and psychological advantages that chewing brings them.
Another way the Kong Goodie Bone can help your dog is to slow down their eating in the same way that the original Kong and other treat dispenser toys do.
Of course, those dog’s who already enjoy chew toys will be happy to play with and chew the bone without the addition of treats.
- NATURAL COFFEE WOOD: Made from 100% coffee wood, offering a natural, safe chew for dogs
- DURABLE FOR STRONG CHEWERS: Long-lasting design ideal for dogs who love to chew; perfect for satisfying natural instincts
- SAFER ALTERNATIVE TO STICKS: Coffee wood doesn’t splinter, providing a cleaner and safer chew experience
Now the Kong Corestrength
This version is made with multi layered core strands for strength during longer chew sessions. The bone features textured ends and letters with little paw prints on the main bone that create a teeth and gum cleansing surface.
The Corestrength is available in S/M and M/L sizes. The S/M is ideal for terrier size breeds and the M/L for medium and larger breeds.
These work well for catch and retrieve as well as independent play and chewing sessions. When used for interactive play, the bone bounces erratically, adding to the challenge and enjoyment for your dog.
- KONG-crafted multilayer core for long-lasting chew sessions
- Textured body great for cleaning teeth
- Designed to extend play sessions for on-going fun

Our Verdict
Kong does other bone versions and lots of different toy options too. As we get around to using them, we’ll review them in the blog.
The above two versions of chew bones work well to satisfy dogs natural need and instinct to chew. They are both available in terrier size options which, of course, we find especially appealing. They are useful toys for hours of fun.
